Four Seawolves Earn America East All-Conference Honors

May 25, 2005

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Four Stony Brook baseball players, Matt Devins, Isidro Fortuna, Tom Koehler and Andrew Larsen were named All-America East performers as announced by the conference on Wednesday evening. Devins, Fortuna and Larsen took home first-team all-conference honors while Koehler was named to the all-rookie team.

Devins, a senior, earns a first-team selection at shortstop this season after taking home second-team recognition in each of his first three seasons at Stony Brook. He completed the regular season ranked second in the conference in hits (71) and RBI (38) while ranking fourth in batting average (.357) and finishing in the top-10 in nine offensive categories.

Fortuna, a junior, earns first-team honors at designated hitter, ranking in the top-10 in eight offensive categories, including second in walks (27) and on-base percentage (.460) and third in RBI (37). His .357 batting average and 15 doubles were both good for a tie for fourth in the conference with Devins.

Senior Larsen was named to the first-team in the outfield this season as he led the America East in hits (79), hits per game (1.55), doubles (25) and total bases (114). He led the Seawolves with a .367 batting average, which ranked second in the conference, while finishing in the top-10 in seven offensive categories.

Koehler put in a solid freshman season on the pitcher's mound to earn all-rookie honors. The hard throwing righty tied for the team lead with 18 appearances and finished 2-1 after stepping in as a starter in the second half of the conference schedule. For the year, he struck out 42 batters in 44.1 innings of work.
