Women's Basketball Hosts St. John's in Last Non-Conference Game of Season

TODAY'S MATCHUP Stony Brook takes on the St. John?s Red Storm. The Seawolves are 4-7 after a 77-65 loss to Sacred Heart. Stony Brook snapped its two-game losing streak. St John?s is 3-8 after falling to second ranked North Carolina, 87-43.

SCOUTING THE RED STORM

Sophomore Monique McLean leads the team in scoring with 15.6 ppg. McLean is adding 6.4 rpg. Finland native Tiina Sten is averaging 14.4 points and 5.1 rpg. Copiague native Kia Wright is averaging 9.4 points and Angel Tate is averaging 7.8 ppg and 8.7 rpg.

SEAWOLVES AGAINST THE BIG EAST CONFERENCE

Stony Brook has a 2-7 record vs. the Big East having played Pittsburgh and Providence along with St. John?s.

SEAWOLVES VS. THE BOROUGH OF QUEENS

Stony Brook is 4-6 against the Borough, having its most success against Queens College from its days in Division II.

AMERICA EAST READY Tonight?s game vs. St. John?s marks the last non-conference game of the season. The Seawolves host conference foe Hartford on January 4th at 7 pm. Stony Brook went 12-4 in conference play last season. The winner of the conference tournament receives an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.

FORD NAMED STONY BROOK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Mykeema Ford has been named Stony Brook Athlete of the Week. This is the second consecutive week the honor has gone to a women?s basketball player.

BUILT FORD TOUGH

Mykeema Ford has scored in double figures each game this season. In dating back to her freshman year at Stony Brook, Ford has scored in double figures in 79 of 94 games.

SMITH AND FORD APPROACHING SCORING RECORDS

Seniors Jessica Smith and Mykeema Ford are quickly climbing the list for most career points in Stony Brook History. Ford is currently fifth all-time with 1,426 points and Smith is tied for sixth with 1,388 points.
