Stony Brook, N.Y. -
Mykeema Ford collects Stony Brook Athlete of the Week honors after her outstanding play helped the women's basketball team to a pair of wins that propelled the Seawolves into sole possession of second place in the America East standings.
She averaged a team-best 17.0 points on the week behind 13-for-31 (41.9 percent) shooting from the floor and 7-9 (77.8 percent) from the free throw line, both well over her percentages on the season, while adding 5.0 rebounds per outing.
Ford kicked off the week with 13 points in a come-from-behind victory at Vermont, including a three-point dagger with 25 seconds remaining that pushed SB's lead to a comfortable four points. She capped it with a dominating performance in a win over Binghamton, netting a game-high 21 points to go with seven rebounds, four assists and two steals to help SB snap a five-game losing streak to the Bearcats.
