Women's Basketball Heads to Maine in America East Matchup

Tonight's Matchup Stony Brook has won three games in a row for the first time this season and takes on the Maine Black Bears. Maine is 8-7 overall and 2-2 in the America East. Stony Brook is 4-7 vs. Maine all-time but swept the season series last year, 65-49 and 84-70.

Scouting the Black Bears Maine is led in scoring by senior forward Bracey Barker who's averaging 15.2 ppg. Barker has led Maine in scoring in 9 of its 15 games this season. Barker's averaging 5.7 rpg and shooting an impressive 57 percent from the floor to go along with 90 % from the free throw line. Guard Ashley Underwood is averaging 13.1 ppg.

Follow the Leader After a quarter of the way through the conference season, many of the Seawolves are leading the conference in numerous statistical categories.

The Stony Brook women's basketball team has also been among the leaders in many categories for the season, placing one and two in some 2006-2007

Milestones in the Making After a 27 point performance at New Hampshire, Jessica Smith is just 10 points away from 1,500 for her career. After Mykeema Ford reached 1,500 earlier this year, Smith will become only the fifth player to reach that milestone. Smith also recorded her 800th rebounded against New Hampshire. With a nine point outing on Saturday, Inbar Orion scored her 300th career point.

Ford Repeats as America East Player of the Week For the second consecutive week, Stony Brook's Mykeema Ford has been named America East Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. It is the fifth time Ford has received the honor.

Ford scored a career-high 32 points in a win over Boston U. and followed that up with 22 points in a win over New Hampshire. The senior guard is averaging 25.3 ppg in league play which is 7.6 ppg more than her closest competition. Ford leads the conference in scoring (18.2 ppg) and ranks third in assists (4.50 apg).
