Stony Brook, N.Y. - Stony Brook University's men's lacrosse team will be hosting the U.S. National Team on Saturday, October 31 when the national squad will have its final scrimmage session of the fall at 1:00 p.m. in LaValle Stadium. The U.S. Team, which Stony Brook head coach Rick Sowell is serving as an assistant coach for, will also be hosting clinics on Friday as part of the final training camp for the team, which is preparing for competition in the 2010 Federation of International Lacrosse World Championships July 10-24 in Manchester, England.
Tickets for the U.S. Team exhibition on Saturday are priced at $8 for adults and $5 for ages 18 and under. If purchasing in advance, a $1 discount is available for US Lacrosse members. "We are very excited to be hosting the final tryout for the Men's USA National Lacrosse Team", said Sowell. "LaValle Stadium has quickly gained a reputation as one of the premier lacrosse facilities in the country. With our most recent upgrades including new field-turf and a state of the art, high definition scoreboard, watching 41 players compete for 23 spots will be an enjoyable experience for both spectators and participants."
Clinics, taught by the entire U.S. lacrosse team, will actually be split into two smaller clinics, running concurrently from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Friday, October 30, and based on each individual's experience level. One clinic will be for boys in grades 3-8 and for newer players, the second will be customized for grades 9-12 and offer higher intensity drills for more advanced players. Participants in the clinics will receive free admission to Saturday's exhibition game in addition to a t-shirt and other goodies. Space is limited and filling up fast, so be sure to register as soon as possible.
