Robert Morris Game Notes
Stony Brook, N.Y. -
Stony Brook's women's basketball team looks to put a notch in the win column when it travels to Moon Township, Pa. for a game against Robert Morris. The Seawolves first road trip of the 2009-10 season is also their longest at 449 miles. This will be the first time in school history SBU plays the Colonials. Saturday's contest will be broadcast online by the Robert Morris broadcast team. The game can also be followed via gametracker and live video stream at goseawolves.org.
Scouting Robert Morris
The Colonials are hosting their third-straight home game, having split the first two, a 62-57 loss to Kent State and a 74-67 win over Akron. Robert Morris is coming off a 13-18 record in 2008-09, going 9-9 in the NEC.
Senior guard Angela Pace has led the Colonials this season averaging 16.5 ppg, 6 apg and 7 rpg. Having lost four of its five starters from last season, the Colonials welcome seven newcomers to their roster.
Stony Brook will have to find a way to cool the Colonials' hot shooting as they enter tonight's matchup making 48% of their field goal attempts while shooting .484 (15-31) from beyond the arc. The good news for the Seawolves is that Robert Morris allows its opponents to shoot .462 from the field.
Last Time Out
Stony Brook University's women's basketball team fell to St. John's, 89-52, last Sunday afternoon in Pritchard Gymnasium. Despite playing a strong second half, the Seawolves could not dig themselves out of an early hole. Junior Kirsten Jeter (Elmont, N.Y.) led the charge for SBU, scoring all 15 of her points in the second half while adding six rebounds. Da'Shena Stevens led the Red Storm with 22 points.
Stony Brook received solid performances off its bench from senior Crystal Rushin (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and freshman Taylor Burner (Port Jefferson, N.Y.). Rushin tallied seven points and six rebounds while Burner pulled down five boards and added four points.
