Stony Brook Basketball To Host Air Force Tonight

Nov. 27, 2009

Air Force Game Notes

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Stony Brook looks to shake off the tryptophan from Thursday's turkey and enter the win column for the first time this season when they host Air Force on Friday night. This will be the first-ever matchup between these two schools and only the third time Stony Brook has faced a Mountain West Conference opponent since joining Division I. Friday's contest will be broadcast locally on WUSB 90.1 FM with Jeff Bernstein and Sue Serafini announcing. The game can also be followed via gametracker and live video stream at goseawolves.org.

Scouting Air Force
With a roster that features nine freshman and three sophomores, the Falcons have experienced some growing pains, entering tonight's matchup with a 1-4 record. Junior guard Raimee Beck has done the majority of the scoring for Air Force this season as she is the lone player averaging double-digits with 16.8 ppg. She is also the team's leading rebounder, pulling down 9.2 boards per game.

The Falcons have had difficulty controlling the ball at times, averaging 18.2 turnovers per game. This plays right into SBU's style of play as the Seawolves are forcing their opponents into just under 18 turnovers a contest so far this season.

Last Time Out
Stony Brook University's women's basketball team lost to Sacred Heart, 83-70, on Tuesday night in Pritchard Gymnasium. The game, which was played closer than the final score may indicate, featured seven players in double-figures, including three from Stony Brook. Senior Joia Daniels (Silver Spring, Md.) and junior Kirsten Jeter (Elmont, N.Y.) both recorded 18 while sophomore Destiny Jacobs (Glen Burnie, Md.) scored 12. Daniels' 18 points are a new career high.
