Dec. 1, 2009

Stony Brook, N.Y. - A pair of Stony Brook University men's lacrosse players were named to the 2010 preseason All-America team that was chosen by Inside Lacrosse magazine, headlining a number of honors the publication handed out to the Seawolves. Juniors Kevin Crowley (New Westminster, B.C) and Jordan McBride (New Westminster, B.C.) earned second team and honorable mention All-America honors respectively, while senior Steven Waldeck (Levittown, N.Y.) and junior Adam Rand (Niantic, Conn.) joined the pair on the preseason all-conference team. The publication picked Stony Brook to finish second in the 2010 America East Conference race behind UMBC.

Crowley and McBride, who were both chosen as preseason All-Americans in 2009 as well, were key components to a Stony Brook attack that ranked ninth in the nation by averaging 11.2 goals per game. McBride had another standout year on offense for Stony Brook, leading the team with 42 goals and ranking second nationally with his average of 2.8 goals per game from his attack position. A midfielder, Crowley led the Seawolves with 51 points on 28 goals and 23 assists and ranked 13th in the nation in points per game.

Waldeck was a stalwart on defense for the Seawolves in 2009, leading the team with 21 caused turnovers and 96 groundballs, ranking No. 7 in the nation in groundballs per game. He also contributed on offense with five goals and five assists to rank among the national leaders for long poles. Rand was a standout in the face-off circle for Stony Brook, winning 222 of his 348 attempts to lead the nation in face-off percentage with a mark of .638.

Stony Brook, which finished the 2009 season ranked #20 in the USILA Coaches Poll and returns all but one starter, was picked to finish second in the 2010 America East standings after finishing second in 2009 and earning a spot in the conference championship final against UMBC. The Seawolves will open the 2010 season at home on February 20 when it hosts Siena.
