Stony Brook, N.Y. - Stony Brook University's women's basketball team returns to the court after a nine day layoff to face Hofstra in Hempstead, N.Y. on Monday night. While Hofstra does hold a 6-4 advantage in the all-time series, the two clubs have met only three times in the Seawolves Division I history, including their WNIT matchup in 2006. Monday's game can be heard locally on WUSB 90.1 FM or on www.GoSeawolves.org with Jeff Bernstein announcing. The game will also be broadcast on FiOS1 TV on tape delay.

Scouting Hofstra
Entering tonight's game with a 6-3 record, the Pride have yet to drop a game in the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex this year. Hofstra is led by reigning CAA Co-Rookie of the Week, Shante Evans, who is averaging 11.8 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game. She recorded a pair of double-doubles in her last two games and scored a career-high 22 points against Manhattan. The 73-65 victory over Manhattan was the Pride's third in a row having previously dropped three-straight at the WBCA Classic.

In their last matchup, the Seawolves bested the Pride, 64-48, during the 2007-08 season. Kirsten Jeter, who was a freshman at the time, led SBU with 16 points while grabbing five rebounds. Four players remain on Hofstra's roster from that season: Brigham, Bellocchio, Uzamere and Terry.

Last Time Out
Stony Brook University fell short of completing a 19-point comeback against Dartmouth on Friday night in Pritchard Gymnasium. Down three with six seconds left, a three from freshman Amanda Corona (North Hollywood, Calif.) just missed, hitting the front of the rim. A pair of free throws would ice the game for the Big Green, who held on for the 77-72 win. Senior Joia Daniels (Silver Spring, Md.) led the Seawolves with 15 points and nine rebounds.

After scoring just 27 points in the first half, the Seawolves shot 57.6% while outscoring Dartmouth 45-38 in the second. Corona and fellow freshman Taylor Burner (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) both recorded career-highs in points with eight and nine, respectively.
