Women's Basketball Travels to Baltimore to Play UMBC

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Stony Brook University's women's basketball team looks to grab sole possession of fourth place in the America East Conference when it travels to Baltimore, Md. to face UMBC on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. The Seawolves hold an 8-5 advantage in the all-time series. Thursday's game can be heard locally on WUSB 90.1 FM with Jeff Bernstein '92 calling the action. Scouting UMBC
Following a three-game slide, the Retrievers pulled off a road upset of Boston University on Sunday, beating the Terriers 65-63. Senior Carlee Cassidy led the way with 18 points, knocking down five threes. Cassidy moved into third place all-time in America East history with 224 career triples. She ranks second on the team in scoring with 13.4 points per game, trailing sophomore Michelle Kurowski (13.8). UMBC ranks fourth in the conference in points per game (62.8), but is last in scoring defense as it allows 67.3 points per game.

Last Time Out
Stony Brook dropped its road contest with Vermont, 67-45, in Patrick Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon. Junior Kirsten Jeter (Elmont, N.Y.) led the Seawolves with 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting. The Seawolves' defense helped keep the game close early on as they tied the score at 20-20 with 5:14 remaining. However, Vermont finished the half off on a 12-2 run and then connected on 4-of-7 three pointers in the second half to pull away.
