Stony Brook University's women's basketball team looks to move above the .500 mark in conference play for the first time since 2006-07 season when it travels to Vestal, N.Y. to play Binghamton on Saturday afternoon. SBU is 9-16 against the Bearcats all-time, winning its previous matchup, a 62-51 decision in February of last season. Saturday's game will be broadcast locally on WUSB 90.1 FM with Jeff Bernstein providing the play-by-play. Live streaming audio and live stats will also be available online at www.goseawolves.org.
Scouting Binghamton
The Bearcats will be playing their third game in six days when they take the court today against the Seawolves. BU defeated Cornell, 74-42, on Monday before falling in its America East Conference opener to Boston University, 68-57. Picked to finish third in the league, the Bearcats had a challenging non-conference schedule, taking on Syracuse, Villanova, Miami, Lehigh and East Carolina.
Binghamton leads the America East in three-point field goals made, connecting 103 times from beyond the arc. Senior Erica Carter leads the Bearcats' deep threat, shooting 47% from three (47-101) while averaging 13.4 ppg. Jackie Ward and Andrea Holmes also average double-figures with 12.3 and 12.2 ppg respectively.
Last Time Out
Junior Kirsten Jeter (Elmont, N.Y.) scored 21 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as Stony Brook defeated New Hampshire, 69-57, in America East Conference action on Wednesday night in Pritchard Gymnasium. Junior Misha Horsey (Wyncote, Pa.) joined Jeter in double-figures with 16 points while dishing out five assists.
Stony Brook led by as many as ten in the first half, forcing UNH into 12 turnovers. The Seawolves maintained their double-digit lead throughout most of the second half while committing a season-low nine turnovers.
