Women's Hoops set to face George Washington

Washington, D.C. - Trying to snap a two-game losing streak, the Stony Brook University women's basketball team heads to the nation's capital to take on the George Washington University Colonials on Saturday at the Smith Center. Game time is set for 2 p.m.

Last time out
Stony Brook trailed by just seven points at halftime but the George Mason Patriots out-scored the Seawolves 22-6 over the first seven minutes of the second half on its way to a 74-48 victory on Thursday night at the Patriot Center.

Senior Kirsten Jeter (Elmont, N.Y.) scored 11 points to go along with seven rebounds for Stony Brook (3-5), which lost its second straight game. Junior Destiny Jacobs (Glen Burnie, Md.) added nine points and 10 rebounds.

Scouting George Washington
The Colonials (4-4) are coming off a 60-35 loss at Old Dominion their last time out. GW is 4-0 at the Smith Center, including a 67-58 victory over George Mason last Sunday.

Sophomore Danni Jackson is averaging a team-best 10.9 points per game for George Washington, while senior Ivy Abiona ranks third in the Atlantic-10 in rebounding (8.9 per game). The Colonials have not allowed an opponent to score 60 points in their four home games this season.

GW was picked to finish ninth in the 14-team Atlantic-10 conference in the preseason poll. The Colonials return all five starters from last year's squad that finished 6-22.

All-time Series
GW has won both prior games between the programs. The last meeting came on Dec. 2, 2006 at Stony Brook Arena, with the No. 20/21 George Washington defeating off the Seawolves, 67-55.
