Women's Hoops to face St. Francis (N.Y.) Friday

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Stony Brook University's women's basketball team will try to end 2010 on a high note, traveling to take on St. Francis (N.Y.) on Friday. Game time is set for 2 p.m. This will be the final non-conference game for SBU, which opens conference play on Monday against UMBC.

Last time out
The Seawolves held the Old Dominion Lady Monarchs to 33 percent shooting in the second half but Tia Lewis scored a game-high 22 points to lead ODU to a 71-47 victory last Tuesday at the Ted Constant Center. Junior Whitney Davis (Muskegon, Mich.) led the Seawolves with a career-high 13 points while sophomore Sam Landers (Springfield, Va.) tallied nine.

Scouting St. Francis (N.Y.)
The Terriers dropped their third straight game on Wednesday, falling to the visiting Penn Quakers, 66-38. Friday's game will be the third of a four-game homestand for St. Francis (N.Y.).

The Terriers are averaging just 44.3 points per game and shooting 33.7 percent from the field. Sophomore Autumn Lau is averaging a team-high 11.3 points per game and is the only St. Francis (N.Y.) player scoring in double-figures.

St. Francis (N.Y.) opened the season with six straight losses before defeating IUPUI on Dec. 12 for its first victory of the season. One of their losses came to America East opponent Albany, who defeated the Terriers, 49-43.

The Terriers were picked to finish 12th in the Northeast Conference preseason coaches poll.

All-Time Series
Stony Brook leads the all-time series, 4-3. Prior to the Seawolves 71-40 victory over the Terriers last season, the programs had not met since the 1980-81 season.

Last meeting
Behind a pair of double-doubles from senior Joia Daniels and sophomore Destiny Jacobs (Glen Burnie, Md.) the Seawolves toppled St. Francis (N.Y.), 71-40, at Pritchard Gymnasium. Junior Kirsten Jeter (Elmont, N.Y.) led all scorers with 20.

Stony Brook grabbed a season-high 26 offensive rebounds and 57 total rebounds. The Seawolves held St. Francis (N.Y.) to 22 percent shooting while Jacobs had a team-best 11 boards to go along with 10 points.
