Scouting Maine
The Black Bears enter Saturday's tilt on a four-game slide. Three of those losses have come against the top three teams in the conference standings with the most recent being a 59-32 loss to #25 Hartford. Sophomore Samantha Wheeler led Maine with 12 points and six rebounds, but the team shot just 24% from the field.
Wheeler was one of three Black Bears to score in double-figures during Stony Brook's 64-59 victory over Maine earlier this season. The Seawolves trailed by as many as five with under five minutes remaining, but junior Kirsten Jeter (Elmont, N.Y.) scored seven of her game-high 18 points during a 10-4 run by the Seawolves which gave them the lead with 1:38 remaining. Clutch free throw shooting down the stretch iced the game for Stony Brook. Sophomore Destiny Jacobs (Glen Burnie, Md.) came off the bench to record a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Last Time Out
Junior Kirsten Jeter (Elmont, N.Y.) recorded a double-double with 19 points and 15 rebounds, but it wasn't enough as Albany outscored Stony Brook 11-4 in overtime to pull out a 59-52 victory on Wednesday night in SEFCU Arena. Albany's Ebone Henry, who sent the game into overtime with a layup with 21 seconds remaining, led all scorers with 26.
Stony Brook led by ten with 7:58 remaining, but failed to make a field goal for the rest of the game, including overtime, as Albany rallied. The Great Danes shot 61.5% from beyond the arc for the game.
