Scouting Albany
After starting the season with a 7-6 record in non-conference play, the Great Danes have yet to notch a conference victory, having dropped nine straight. Albany kicked-off a four-game homestand on Saturday with a 72-63 loss to Vermont. The Great Danes held a one-point lead at halftime, but went 8-for-27 from the field in the second half. Sophomore Felicia Johnson led three players in double figures with 20, while Julie Forster recorded a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Forster scored a game-high 14 in Stony Brook's 46-37 victory over Albany earlier this season. The 46 points were the fewest SBU has ever scored in a winning effort during its ten years of Division I play. Freshman Sam Landers (Springfield, Va.) led the Seawolves with 11 points while shooting 50% from the field.
Last Time Out
Junior Kirsten Jeter (Elmont, N.Y.) poured in 17 points and sophomore Tamiel Murray (Teaneck, N.J.) grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds as Stony Brook defeated Binghamton, 74-60, on Saturday afternoon in Pritchard Gymnasium. The Seawolves' defense forced Binghamton into 22 turnovers while tying a season-high with 13 steals.
Leading wire-to-wire, SBU scored 30 points off turnovers, a season-high for the Seawolves. Senior Joia Daniels (Silver Spring, Md.) and junior Misha Horsey (Wyncote, Pa.) joined Jeter in double-figures with ten points each. Sophomore Destiny Jacobs (Glen Burnie, Md.) tied Murray for the team lead in rebounds with 11.
