Stony Brook University's women's basketball team begins a three-game road trip on Thursday, traveling to take on the Binghamton Bearcats at the Events Center. Game time is set for 7 p.m.

Senior Kirsten Jeter (Elmont, N.Y.) tallied 14 points and 14 rebounds and the Seawolves (3-10, 0-1 AE) cut a 17-point second half deficit to two but the UMBC Retrievers held on for a 65-52 victory in the America East opener for both teams on Monday at Pritchard Gymnasium.
Scouting Binghamton
Binghamton finished off its non-conference slate with a 65-55 victory over Cornell on Monday at the Events Center. With the win, the Bearcats (7-6, 0-0 AE)) clinched their first winning record against non-conference opponents in five years.
This will be the conference opener for Binghamton, who was picked third in the America East preseason coaches poll. Junior Andrea Holmes was named to the preseason all-conference team and ranks third in the America East in scoring (13.6 points per game).
The Bearcats are 4-0 at home and rank second in the conference in scoring defense (58.3 points per game) and opponent field goal percentage (.376). Binghamton also leads in the America East in assists per game (13.6) and rebound maring (+3.3).
All-time Series
The Bearcats lead the all-time series, 17-11. Stony Brook is 7-12 against Binghamton since joining the America East in 2001-02. The Seawolves last win at Binghamton came in a 71-62 triumph on Feb. 21, 2007.
Last meeting
Junior Misha Horsey (Wyncote, Pa.) scored 20 points, 16 in the second half, as No. 4 Stony Brook defeated No. 5 Binghamton, 71-60, in the quarterfinals of the 2010 America East Women's Basketball Championship in Chase Arena. Horsey led three Seawolves in double figures and SBU shot 50% from the field as a team.
Jeter and senior Joia Daniels finished the game with 15 and 12 points, respectively. Sophomore Destiny Jacobs (Glen Burnie, Md.) grabbed 10 rebounds and added six points.
