Swimming and diving to participate in Hour of Power Fundraiser

Oct. 19, 2011

DONATE NOW

Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook swimming and diving teams will participate in this year's Hour of Power Relay for Sarcoma Research on Nov. 8 to raise awareness and funds to battle sarcoma, a rare soft-tissue cancer.

The Hour of Power Relay is in honor of former Carleton College swimmer Ted Mullin, who passed away in the fall of 2006 from sarcoma. On Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 5 p.m., participating schools will hold a one hour relay practice at their home pool consisting of continuous relays of all-out swimming at any stroke. In the first five years of the event, the Hour of Power has raised $265,000.

Stony Brook swimming and diving is asking for your donations to help raise money and awareness. Donations will go to the Ted Mullin Fund for Pediatric Sarcoma Research at the Comer Children's Hospital at the University of Chicago. For more information, please visit the Hour of Power event page.

Checks should be made payable to "FJC/Ted Mullin Fund" with the team name (Stony Brook) in the memo line, and mailed to:

Ted Mullin Fund
P.O. Box 437
Winnetka, IL 60093-0437

All donations are tax-deductable to the extent allowed by U.S. law.
