Stony Brook Athletics tipped off the 2011-12 basketball season with its B-Ball Madness event, as university students came into Pritchard Gymnasium to meet the Seawolves. The Stony Brook pep band, dance team and other groups performed and were featured in a live television shot on News 12.

Each team was introduced and performed drills before the teams squared off in a three-point shooting contest and a layup contest. To finish the evening, three men's basketball players battled in a slam dunk competition. Freshman Scott King (Derry, N.H.) won the event with a 360 dunk that captivated the audience.

Stony Brook men's basketball will begin the regular season Friday, Nov. 11 at Indiana. The same night, the women's team will tip off at Fairfield. The men's home opener at Pritchard Gym takes place Sunday, Nov. 13 vs. Mount Ida at 2 p.m., and the women's home opener is Mon., Nov. 21 vs. George Mason.
