About the Game: The Stony Brook University women's basketball team will look to snap a two-game losing streak on Tuesday night, traveling to take on the Rider Broncs. It will be just the third all-time meeting between the programs and first since 2001.
Meet the Seawolves: The Seawolves are leading the America East in scoring defense at 55.4 points per game. Stony Brook has held its opponents to just 48.6 points per game in the five games other than the Ohio State game when they gave up 84 points
Scouting Rider: The Broncs enter off a 58-51 loss to No. 20 Georgetown on Sunday. Rider has lost three of four after winning their first two games of the season. The Broncs have three players averaging double-figures in scoring led by sophomore MyNeshia McKenzie at 13.7 points per game. McKenzie was named to the MAAC All-Rookie team as a freshman. Senior guard Ali Heller is averaging 10.7 points per contest after being named MAAC 6th Player of the Year last season. Heller ranked 10th in the country in 3-pt field goal percentage last year. Rider returns 10 letterwinners including four starters from 2010-11. The Broncs were picked eighth in the MAAC preseason coaches poll.
Last time out: The Seawolves fell to the Sacred Heart Pioneers, 55-33, on Wednesday night at the Pitt Center. It was the second straight loss for the Seawolves. Junior Gerda Gatling (Woodbridge, Va.) led Stony Brook as she matched a career-high with 10 points and junior Jessica Previlon (Brooklyn, N.Y.) chipped in with five points and nine rebounds.
