The Stony Brook University women's basketball team concludes a three-game homestand Saturday, facing off against the Maine Black Bears at Stony Brook Arena as part of Seawolves Winterfest 2011. Game time is set for 2 p.m. and will follow the men's 11 a.m. game against the Black Bears.
Last time out
Senior Kirsten Jeter (Elmont, N.Y.) scored 19 points but the New Hampshire Wildcats hit eight three-pointers and shot 57 percent from the field on their way to 72-58 victory over the Stony Brook University women's basketball team on Wednesday at Pritchard Gymnasium.
Scouting Maine
The Black Bears have lost nine in a row and are coming off a 62-49 loss to visiting Hartford on Tuesday. Amber Smith scored 17 points against the Hawks, her third straight game in double-figures.
Ashleigh Roberts is averaging a team-high 10.7 points per game, which leads all conference freshman. Maine has scored more than 60 points just once in conference play and is eighth in the America East in scoring during conference play (50.8 points per game).
The Black Bears are last in the league in scoring defense (70.8 points per game) but lead the conference with 3.8 blocks per game. Maine is 1-10 on the road this season including 0-5 in conference play.

This will be the 22rd all-time meeting between the schools. Stony Brook leads the series, 12-9, and has six of the last meetings between the teams.

Senior Kirsten Jeter scored a career-high 28 points and junior Tamiel Murray (Teneck, N.J.) forced a key turnover in the final seconds to lead the Stony Brook women's basketball team to a 73-70 win over the Maine Black Bears at Alfond Arena.
Jeter scored 18 of her 28 in the first half and also pulled down 10 rebounds as she recorded her third double-double of the season and scored over 20 points for the third time in the last four games.
