Women's Hoops takes on Hartford on Wednesday

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Stony Brook University's women's basketball team begins a two-game homestand that will close the regular season with a tilt against the Hartford Hawks on Wednesday night at Pritchard Gymnasium. Game time is set for 7 p.m.

Last time out
Stony Brook led by as many as 14 in the first half but the Boston University Terriers rallied for a 72-68 victory over the Seawolves on Sunday afternoon at Case Gym. Sophomore Sam Landers (Springfield, Va.) led Stony Brook with 13 points and six assists.

Scouting the Hawks
Hartford fell to first-place UMBC, 53-48, on Sunday, which snapped a six-game winning streak. The win streak began with a 62-49 victory over the Seawolves at Chase Arena on Jan. 26.

The Hawks (12-15 9-5 AE) are in fourth place in the America East, a game behind third-place Binghamton. Hartford is second in the America East in scoring (59.2 points per game) and field goal percentage (.402) during conference play.

Hartford is 2-13 this season when shooting under 40 percent and 10-1 when having a better field goal percentage than its opponent. Mary Silvia leads the Hawks in scoring at 9.4 points per game.

The Hawks do not have player ranked in the top-15 in the conference in scoring or rebounding. Hartford is 5-2 on the road during America East play.

All-Time Series
Hartford leads the all-time series, 17-6, and has won the last 12 meetings between the teams. Stony Brook's last victory over Hartford came on Feb. 22, 2006.

Last meeting (Jan. 26, 2011)
Junior Whitney Davis (Muskegon, Mich.) led three Seawolves in double-figures with 13 points but the Hartford Hawks used a 16-4 second-half run to break open a close game on its way to 67-57 victory over the Stony Brook at Chase Arena.

Senior Kirsten Jeter (Elmont, N.Y.) added 12 points for the Seawolves, while junior Destiny Jacobs (Glen Burnie, Md.) chipped in with 10 points and eight rebounds. Ruthanne Doherty led all scorers with 23 points while Mary Silvia added 19 points including five threes.
