Women's Hoops to face Binghamton on Senior Day

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Stony Brook closes the 2010-11 regular season on Saturday, hosting the Binghamton Bearcats. The Seawolves will honor their three seniors - Kirsten Jeter (Elmont, N.Y.), Misha Horsey (Wyncote, Pa.) and Jodie Plikus (Waterford, Conn.)- prior to the game.

Last time out
Stony Brook University women's basketball team shot a season-high 54.3 percent but Jackie Smith hit the go-ahead free throws with 24 seconds left to send the Hartford Hawks to a 67-63 victory over the Seawolves on Wednesday at Pritchard Gymnasium.

Jeter, sophomore Sam Landers (Springfield, Va.) and junior Destiny Jacobs (Glen Burnie, Md.) each scored 13 points for the Seawolves, who out-scored Hartford 36-16 in the paint.

Scouting the Bearcats
Binghamton (18-10, 11-4 AE) has won two straight and locked up at least the No. 3 seed in next week's America East tournament with its 59-53 win over Boston University on Wednesday. The Bearcats can secure the No. 2 seed with a win over the Seawolves today.

The Bearcats are one win from matching the program's highest win total at the Division I level and have already won their most conference games since the America East switched to a 16-game regular season schedule.

Andrea Holmes is fourth in the America East in scoring (14.3 points per game) and had 13 points and 12 rebounds in the first meeting between the teams this season. Binghamton ranks 20th in the country in scoring defense (54.5 points per game) and field goal percentage defense (35.1 percent).

Binghamton leads the conference in rebound margin (+4.7) and has won have five of their last six road conference games.

Last meeting (Jan. 6, 2011
) The Seawolves dropped an America East contest to the Binghamton Bearcats, 63-43, on Thursday night at the Events Center. Sophomore Sam Landers matched her career-best with a game-high 16 points.

Junior Destiny Jacobs grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds for the Seawolves, while sophomore Juanita Cochran (Saginaw, Mich.) added 10 points and eight rebounds.
