Senior Adam Rand (Niantic, Conn.) of the Stony Brook men's lacrosse team has been named America East Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. The preseason All-American and Tewaaraton Award watch list selection won 18-of-21 face-offs against Marist on Saturday.
Rand already has won 35-of-47 (.745) draws this season, and his 644 career face-off wins is sixth all-time in NCAA Division I history. He also recorded six ground balls against the Red Foxes, as he went over 200 for his career.
Rand and the sixth-ranked Seawolves take on Delaware on Saturday afternoon. Face-off from Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
