Men's Lacrosse heads to Hartford on Saturday night

The #14 Stony Brook men's lacrosse team travels to West Hartford on Saturday for an America East showdown with Hartford. The Seawolves (5-3, 1-0), who lead the all-time series, 17-5, take on a Hawks team (7-3, 1-0) looking for their first America East Championship bid since 2003. Saturday's game features two of the top face-off specialists in college lacrosse in senior Adam Rand (Niantic, Conn.) and Tim Fallon. Rand leads the country with a .690 winning percentage and Fallon is ninth at .638.

Last Time Out
Senior Jordan McBride (New Westminster, British Columbia) scored a season-high seven goals to lead the #15 Stony Brook men's lacrosse to a 16-5 win over UMBC in the America East opener for both teams.

McBride led eight different scorers for the Seawolves, who have won two straight against the Retrievers. Senior Kevin Crowley (New Westminster, British Columbia), Division I's active leader with 213 points, added two goals and four assists. Senior Tom Compitello also netted two goals to go along with two assists.

Senior Adam Rand (Niantic, Conn.) won 15 of 18 draws and had 11 ground balls. He has 725 face-off wins for his career and is third all-time in Division I history, moving ahead of Shane Walterhoefer of North Carolina and Steve Vecchione of Johns Hopkins.

Stony Brook held UMBC scoreless for the first three quarters, the second time this season it's done so (St. John's).

Series
During the series with Hartford, Stony Brook has had a winning streak of nine and five games, respectively, and currently has won three straight over the Hawks. The Seawolves have never lost when scoring in double figures.

Scouting the Hawks
Junior Carter Bender leads Hartford in goals (17) and points (30). Junior Ryan Compitello, Tom Compitello's brother, has a team-high 16 assists this season. Fallon is third in Division I with 8.5 ground balls per game. Sophomore Frank Piechota has an 8.28 goals against average and .560 save percentage.
