Entering her first season at the helm at Stony Brook, head coach Beth O'Boyle returns 10 letterwinners from last year's squad and welcomes five newcomers. The Seawolves open the 2011-12 season on Friday, Nov. 11 at Fairfield with the home opener coming against George Mason on Nov. 21.
Stony Brook's 13-game non-conference schedule is highlighted by a matchup with the Ohio State Buckeyes in Columbus on the day after Thanksgiving Nov. 25. The Seawolves will also face BIG EAST foe Seton Hall (Dec. 17) and host Fordham out of the Atlantic 10 on Dec. 11.
The Seawolves open up with three games in the first week of conference play, with home games against Binghamton (Jan. 5) and Albany (Jan. 8) following a road contest at Vermont (Jan. 2). SBU then travels to take on defending regular season champion UMBC (Jan. 12) before returning home to face Boston University (Jan. 14).
Stony Brook heads north to take on New Hampshire on Jan. 16, its third game in five days and then welcomes Maine to Pritchard Gymnasium on Jan. 21. The Seawolves knocked off Maine three times last season.
Four of Stony Brook's next six contests are on the road beginning with a matchup at defending conference champion Hartford (Jan. 25). The Seawolves have home games against Vermont (Jan.28) and UMBC (Feb. 8) during that stretch with the away games coming against Binghamton (Feb. 1), Albany (Feb. 4) and BU (Feb. 11).

The 2012 America East Championship will be held at the University of Hartford's Chase Family Arena. For the third straight season, the conference's men's and women's basketball championships will be held in a combined format.
