About the Game: Stony Brook will try to snap a three-game losing streak on Saturday afternoon, hosting the Boston University Terriers. The Boys & Girls Club of Suffolk County, as part of its ongoing partnership with Seawolves women's basketball, will host a tournament at Stony Brook tomorrow morning before attending the game against the Terriers. Stony Brook held a clinic for over 100 children from the Boys & Girls Club last month.
Meet the Seawolves: Stony Brook is second in the America East and 31st in the nation in scoring defense at 54.1 points per game. SBU is in the midst of a stretch of three games in five days and will be looking for its first win over BU since 2007.
Scouting BU: Winners of three straight and four of its last five, the Terriers are one of two America East teams undefeated in conference play and are coming off a 75-34 triumph over Maine on Wednesday. The 75 points tied a season-high. BU is led by 2011 America East Player of the Year Chantell Alford who ranks eight in the conference in scoring at 12.4 points per game. Mo Moran is second on the team at 11.3 points per contest and Alex Young averages 10.5 points per game. Caroline Steward is second in the America East in rebounding (8.7 per game) and Rashidat Agboola is sixth at 8.2 boards per game. BU is leading the conference in scoring offense (65.3 points per game) during America East play and ranks second in field goal percentage defense.
Last time out: Junior Dani Klupenger scored a team-high 17 points but the UMBC Retrievers rallied from a 10-point first half deficit and defeated the Stony Brook University women's basketball team, 73-47, on Thursday night at the RAC Arena. Klupenger went 6-for-10 from the field including 5-for-6 from three.
