About the Game: Stony Brook tries to snap a six-game losing skid on Wednesday, traveling to take on the Hartford Hawks. The Seawolves will be looking for their first victory over the Hawks since a 67-54 win on Feb. 22, 2006 and have not won at Hartford since Feb. 14, 2004. 

Meet the Seawolves: Stony Brook is third in the America East and 39th in the nation in scoring defense (55.4 points per game). Junior center Taylor Burner is averaging 11.5 points over her last two games. Junior guard Dani Klupenger ranks third in the America East in three-point field goals per game during conference play (2.2 per game). 

Scouting Hartford: The defending America East tournament champions are coming off a 53-46 loss to first-place Boston University on Saturday. Junior Alex Hall led the Hawks with a career-high 21 points against the Terriers. Hartford opened the conference season with three straight losses but are 2-2 since then and enter tonight’s game tied for sixth place in the America East standings. The Hawks are led by junior Ruthanne Doherty, who is seventh in the America East in scoring (12.3) and 11th in rebounding (6.4). Junior Nikkia Smith is leading Hartford in scoring during conference play at 11.1 points per game. Hartford is eighth in the America East in scoring during America East play but are fourth in scoring defense. 

Last time out: The Stony Brook women’s basketball team fell to the Maine Black Bears, 57-44, in America East conference action on Saturday afternoon at Pritchard Gymnasium. The Seawolves trailed 51-25 with 7:55 left before scoring 15 straight points to pull within 51-40 with 1:37 remaining. Junior Dani Klupenger then hit two free throws to cut the Maine lead to 10 but the Black Bears hit five of six free throws over the final minute to put the game away. Junior Taylor Burner led Stony Brook with 11 points while senior Whitney Davis chipped in with 10 points and five rebounds.
