Cambridge, Mass. - For a second straight week and the third time this season, redshirt freshman Mike Rooney (East Islip, N.Y.) has been named America East Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Rooney had three goals and an assist against Vermont last Saturday.

Rooney, who leads all freshmen midfielders nationally with 17 goals, tallied his fourth hat trick of the season in a 13-5 win over the Catamounts. In the last four games, he has 11 goals and three assists.

Rooney and the Stony Brook men's lacrosse team will head upstate to face Binghamton on Saturday, April 7 at 7:00 p.m.
