Oct. 7, 2014

Stony Brook, N.Y. – The Stony Brook women’s basketball team hit the hardwood at the brand-new Stony Brook Arena for official practice Monday.

The team is now under the direction of first-year head coach Caroline McCombs, who comes to Stony Brook with more than 15 years as an assistant coach at the Division I level. The programs she has coached for have qualified for either the NCAA Tournament or WNIT 11 times.

SBU returns eight letter winners from last season’s team that won a program-record 24 games, including first-team All-America East forward Sabre Proctor.

In the video above, McCombs and Proctor discuss the first week of official practice.
