Cambridge, Mass. — Sophomore Kori Bayne-Walker of the Stony Brook women’s basketball team has been named America East Player of the Week for the first time in her career, conference officials announced Monday. Bayne-Walker led the league in assists at 7.0 per game and was fourth in scoring at 18.5 points per game.
The Rochester, N.Y., native notched her first-ever double-double on 10 points and a career-high 10 helpers in a win over Lafayette Friday at Island Federal Credit Union Arena. She added a personal-best nine rebounds to her balanced stat line.
Bayne-Walker scored a career-high 25 points, grabbed nine rebounds and was 9-for-9 from the free throw line at Wagner Sunday.
Bayne-Walker and her teammates return to action at Island FCU Arena Dec. 28-29 for the Seawolves Holiday Classic Presented by Hilton Garden Inn Stony Brook. The Seawolves begin the tournament vs. Western Michigan Sunday at 2:30 p.m. and square off with Norfolk State Monday at 2:30 p.m.
