INDIANAPOLIS -- Juniors Brittany Snow and Rayshaun McGrew have been nominated for the for the 2015 Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Allstate Good Works Teams, the WBCA, NABC and Allstate Insurance Company announced Wednesday.
The prestigious community service award recognizes a distinguished group of student-athletes who have demonstrated a commitment to enriching the lives of others and contributing to the greater good of their communities.
A 2013-14 America East All-Academic pick, Snow holds a 3.57 grade-point average (GPA) in psychology and is studying to become a doctor. She serves as the community service officer of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and has volunteered at the Stony Brook University Cancer Center and with the Miracle League of Long Island.
McGrew has been a part of the Miracle League of Long Island in each of the past two years and is active with the Special Olympics Group of Long Island, who visit with the Stony Brook men's basketball team each year. He engages with children each time the Seawolves visit the Stony Brook University Children's Hospital.
College sports information directors and basketball coaches across the country nominated players who exhibit exceptional leadership skills and an unwavering commitment to volunteerism. From the 93 WBCA nominees and 158 NABC nominees, distinguished voting panels will select two 10-member teams comprised of five student-athletes from the NCAA® Division I level and five student-athletes from NCAA Divisions II, III and the NAIA. The final roster of 20 award recipients will be unveiled in February.
