Durham, N.H. - Senior Alejandro Fritz (Budapest, Hungary) put the Stony Brook men's soccer team (4-5-2, 1-1-0 AE) in front 1-0, but New Hampshire responded for three unanswered, first half goals en route to a 3-2 victory over the Seawolves on Saturday night.
Highlights
- Fritz's first career goal was assisted by his fellow countryman, Vince Erdei (Budapest, Hungary), who broke free from the Wildcat defense, drew a defender and slipped a pass over to Fritz. The midfielder took a good first touch, setting himself up to finish with his favored left-foot.
- The Stony Brook lead was short-lived as A.J. Albers tied the game up at 1-1 three minutes later, hitting a cross first time inside the far post.
- Fazal Nabi put the home team in front for good in the 26th minute, sneaking a left-footed shot from the top of the box inside the far post.
- The Wildcats were awarded a penalty kick in the 44th minute. Chris Wingate sent Jason Orban (Manorville, N.Y.) the wrong way to up the Wildcat lead to 3-1.
- Erdei brought the Seawolves within 3-2, with his fifth goal of the season in the 75th minute, finishing in a maze of traffic in front of goal.
