Seawolves picked fourth in preseason coaches' poll

Oct. 21, 2015

Boston - The America East released its preseason coaches’ poll on Wednesday with the Seawolves slated fourth among the nine schools in the league.

Stony Brook enters year two of the Caroline McCombs era, returning eight letterwinners and three starters from last year’s 17-win team.

Among those returning is third team All-America East selection Brittany Snow (Shamong, N.J.) and second team all-conference guard Kori Bayne-Walker (Rochester, N.Y.).

Snow is looking to become the 15th player in school history to reach the 1,000 career point plateau, entering her senior season 149 points shy of the milestone. If she collects 29 rebounds to go along with 149 points, she will become the ninth player in school history to finish her career with more than 1,000 points and 500 rebounds.

Bayne-Walker led the America East conference with 163 assists last season and ranks eighth in program history with 241 assists with two full years of eligibility remaining.

Albany topped the poll with 64 total points and 6 of 8 first-place votes. The Great Danes have won the last three America East titles, but are just 3-2 against the Seawolves in the last two seasons. Stony Brook’s two victories against Albany are the most in the conference in the two-year span.

Also receiving first-place votes were Maine, who garnered two, and New Hampshire.

The Seawolves open the 2015-16 season at home vs. Iona on Friday, Nov. 13. Tickets go on sale Nov. 2.
