Allstate WBCA Good Works Team Release
Indianapolis – Senior Brittany Snow (Shamong, N.J.) of the Stony Brook women’s basketball team has been named a nominee for the 2016 Allstate WBCA (Women’s Basketball Coaches Association) Good Works Team. Snow is one of 103 Division I women's basketball student-athletes to be nominated for the award.
In its fourth year, the Allstate WBCA Good Works Team recognizes players at all levels of college basketball who have made outstanding contributions in the areas of volunteerism and civic involvement.
Special voting panels, headlined by former NBA All-Star Grant Hill and WNBA legend Tamika Catchings, will select two 10-member teams comprised of five student-athletes from the NCAA Division I level and five student-athletes from Divisions II, III and the NAIA.
Members of the Allstate WBCA Good Works Team will be invited by Allstate to the 2016 NCAA Women’s Final Four in Indianapolis, where they will participate in a community service project benefitting the city.
Snow, a psychology major with a 3.67 cumulative GPA, has volunteered in various events such as Walk for Beauty, Play it Forward, Miracle League of Long Island, YMCA Basketball Camp, ALS Ride For Life, Play Fit Stay Fit, Freedom School Camp, Stony Brook Child Care Services, Barkin’ Basement Thrift Store, Stony Brook Hospital Surgery Department, Stony Brook Hospital Oncology Center, Thanksgiving Food Drive, National Girls and Women in Sports Day and the Special Olympics, since arriving at Stony Brook.
She also is an active member of the Stony Brook Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), serving as its Community Service Representative and Event Specialist, where she helps organize a large portion of its events.
Snow is a Dean’s List student and a member of the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll. She was named to the America East All-Rookie Team as a freshman and the All-Conference third team as a junior. As a senior, she currently leads the Seawolves in scoring at 15.3 ppg.
