BOSTON - Tyler Honahan and Jack Parenty, members of the Stony Brook baseball team, each earned America East weekly honors for their performances this past week on the diamond.
Honahan (Parker, Colo.), a junior LHP, was named the Pitcher of the Week after allowing just one run on four hits, while striking out a career-high 13 batters in 6.1 innings of work in Friday's 10-1 victory over visiting UMass Lowell. His 13 strikeouts are the most by any pitcher in the conference this season.
The honor for Honahan is his second this season. He also earned the award for his opening week performance at Nicholls State.
Parenty (Wantagh, N.Y.) earned Co-Player of the Week honors for his efforts during the week. The junior outfielder the led conference with a .500 batting average (6-for-12) last week and helped the Seawolves to a 3-1 record.
Parenty also led the league with a .647 on-base percentage, recorded a .917 slugging percentage and had a hit in each of Stony Brook's four games, with three of his six hits going for extra bases.
