Stony Brook earns six end-of-year America East distinctions

Vestal, N.Y. -- The Stony Brook women's basketball team received six end-of-year America East honors, headlined by a second consecutive selection to the first team for senior Sabre Proctor, conference officials announced Friday night at its annual end-of-year banquet at the Events Center on the campus of Binghamton University.

Proctor, who was tabbed Preseason All-America East, leads the team and is fourth in the league in scoring at 14.8 points per game. The Harrisburg, Pa., native paces the Seawolves in double-digit scoring efforts (22) and double-doubles (5) and has led them in scoring 17 times. She ranks fifth in the America East in free throw percentage (.776) and sixth in field goal percentage (.476). Proctor is second on the squad and eighth in the conference in rebounding at 6.9 boards per contest and fifth in defensive rebounds at 4.9 per game.

On January 3 vs. New Hampshire, Proctor became the 14th player in school history to record 1,000 career points at Stony Brook and the seventh to reach the feat in three seasons. She previously recorded her 1,000th collegiate point, including 139 points scored during the 2010-11 campaign at North Carolina A&T, Nov. 28 at Duke. Proctor was voted to the third team during her first season at Stony Brook in 2012-13.

Sophomore Kori Bayne-Walker, an All-Rookie honoree last year, earned second-team accolades. Bayne-Walker leads the league and is 2xth nationally in assists at 5.4 per game. She is second in assist/turnover ratio (1.9), seventh in free throw percentage (.772), 10th in field goal percentage (.449) and minutes played (33.1) and 16th in points per game (11.4). Bayne-Walker has led the Seawolves in assists in 24 of 29 games and has dished 156 assists this season, the second-most in single-season school history. She tallied a career-high 10 helpers Dec. 19 vs. Lafayette.

Junior Brittany Snow, who is second in the America East in field goal percentage at .526, placed on the third team. Snow is third on the team and 10th in the conference in rebounding at 6.3 rebounds per game and is third in offensive rebounds at 2.7 per game. She is averaging 11.2 points per contest and is Stony Brook's third-leading scorer.

In addition to her third-team honor, Snow is making her second consecutive appearance on the All-Academic team. The Shamong, N.J., product holds a 3.58 grade-point average (GPA) in psychology and hopes to one day become a doctor. Snow volunteers her time at the Stony Brook University Cancer Center and Hospital and serves as the community service officer of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She was nominated for the All-State Good Works Team in December and has made the Dean's List in all five of her semesters and the Commissioner's Honor Roll in the spring of 2013 and '14.

Senior Jessica Ogunnorin was selected to both the All-Defensive and All-Academic teams. Ogunnorin sits third in the America East at 7.5 boards per contest and fourth in defensive rebounds at 5.0 per game. The athletic guard ranks seventh in the league in blocked shots (0.8).

Ogunnorin is pursuing her master's degree in public policy and boasts a 3.58 GPA. She works as a graduate assistant in the Office for International Students, is a two-time Dean's List honoree and was named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll last year.

No. 3 Stony Brook begins its quest for a first-ever conference title in an America East Championship quarterfinal game vs. No. 6 UMBC Saturday at 8:15 p.m. The game can be seen on ESPN3.
