Boston - Freshman guard Davion Wingate (Atlanta, Ga.) earned her second career Under Armour America East Rookie of the Week honor after logging the entire 120 minutes of action at point guard in Stony Brook’s three games last week.
For the week, Wingate averaged 10.0 points, 5.3 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game. She was steady and reliable in Stony Brook's win over Hartford, finishing with seven points, five rebounds and four assists. She nearly recorded her first career double-double in Stony Brook’s game at Albany, registering 10 points and a career-high nine assists. Wingate then scored 13 points in a loss at Maine on Sunday, sparking a fourth quarter rally with nine points in the final period.
Wingate and fellow freshman Ogechi Anyagaligbo (Miami, Fla.) have combined to win nine America East Rookie of the Week awards this season, the most by a single team since Boston University won nine in 2009-10.
