The Wildcats are off to a blistering start, creeping into the NSCAA Coaches' Poll at No. 25. New Hampshire entered the week with five consecutive shutouts, outscoring its opponents 14-0 over that span, but its momentum was halted with a 1-0 loss at Dartmouth on Wednesday to fall to 9-2 on the season. The Wildcats were impressive in their conference opener, defeating UMBC 3-0. New Hampshire is led by Chris Arling, the conference's top scorer with 10 goals. Jack Dickson has added five goals and two assists and last year's America East Midfielder of the Year Chris Wingate has two goals and six assists. Goalkeeper Andrew Pesci has a .727 goals against average and leads the conference with an .830 save percentage.
Erdei on the Mark
Junior forward Vince Erdei (Budapest, Hungary) enter's Saturday on a scoring tear. After scoring a team-high eight goals in 2015, Erdei managed just one through his first six contests to open the season. He seems to have hit his stride entering conference season with four goals in his last three games and a team-high five goals on the season.
Late Heartbreak
Stony Brook was under a minute away from earning three huge road points against defending champion Vermont when the referee awarded the Catamounts a penalty kick for a handball in the box. Vermont would go on to win the game in double overtime.Â
Home-Field Advantage
Saturday's tilt will be Stony Brook's third home game of the season. They have played eight road contests, tying Saint Francis (Pa.), Drake, Hofstra, Northeastern, Detroit, IUPUI and San Jose State for the most in the country. The good news for the Seawolves is they are traditionally good at home, notching a 6-3-3 record at LaValle since the start of the 2015 season.
