LONG ISLAND – Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum Presented by New York Community Bank is introducing its first college basketball games for the 2017-18 season. The schedule includes Stony Brook and fellow Long Island institution Hofstra, as well as Villanova and Maryland.
The New Coliseum's LONG ISLAND HOOPS schedule will tip off on November 11, 2017, when Maryland faces Stony Brook. The Terrapins entered the 2016-17 season having advanced to the 2016 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16, their first appearance since 2003. Stony Brook won the 2016 America East Conference Tournament and regular season to earn its first Division I NCAA Tournament bid.The game between Stony Brook and Maryland will be the first in the series between the two schools not to be played in College Park.
Hofstra will play 2016 NCAA Champion Villanova on December 22, 2017. Villanova Head Coach Jay Wright previously coached at Hofstra where he led the Pride to two America East Conference Championships.
Tickets for the Maryland vs. Stony Brook game at The New Coliseum Presented by NYCB go on sale on Friday, Nov. 25 at 10 a.m. and are available through Ticketmaster by visiting nassaucoliseum.com or ticketmaster.com. Suites are available for all games and can be purchased by calling 516-231-4848. Tickets for the Hofstra vs. Villanova game will go on sale at a later date.
