SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Stony Brook baseball team (1-1) could not hold on against Wofford on Saturday afternoon and dropped a 9-8 decision to the host school on the second day of the Wofford Tournament at Russell C. King Field.
The Seawolves jumped out to a 4-0 lead with three runs in the second and a single run in the third and led 6-3 before Wofford (2-0) plated six runs in the seventh inning to take the lead for good.
Junior SS Jeremy Giles (Claremont, Calif.) and senior LF Jack Parenty (Wantagh, N.Y.) each collected a pair of hits and two RBI, while junior CF Toby Handley (Whitby, Ontario) and freshman DH Dylan Resk (Ardsley, N.Y.) both added two hits and an RBI.
Cameron Stone (West Haven, Conn.) started on the mound for the first time in the junior’s career and went 4.0 innings, allowed five hits and three runs in a no-decision.

Turning Point
After Stony Brook scored a pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning to expand the lead to 6-3, Wofford exploded for six runs in the bottom half of the inning, including a three-run homer. The Seawolves were able to tack on two runs in the eighth, but were not able to retake the lead.
Notes
- Junior RHP Cameron Stone (West Haven, Conn.), the Seawolves’ career leader in saves with 14, started for the first time of his career on Saturday.
- Freshman Dylan Resk (Ardsley, N.Y.) started his first game as a Seawolf, getting the nod as the DH.
- Freshman RHP Bret Clarke (Royersford, Pa.) made his collegiate debut on the mound when he tossed two-thirds of an inning during the seventh.
