Scouting Hartford
Hartford is 9-13 and 5-4 in conference play, currently good for fourth place. The Hawks have struggled to score the ball, ranking last in the conference in points per game (50.6). Hartford’s leading scorer is expected to miss the contest due to injury, so the Hawks will turn to Darby Lee, who averages 8.2 ppg. She scored 14 of the Hawks’ 35 points in the first meeting.Hartford ranks last in the conference in field goal percentage (34.5%), but can stroke it from deep, shooting at a 30.4% clip. Series History
Hartford leads the series 25-8, but the Seawolves defeated the Hawks 58-35 on Jan. 18 at Island FCU Arena. Freshman Ogechi Anyagaligbo led the way with 16 points and eight rebounds.
Bayne-Walker Returns
Junior point guard Kori Bayne-Walker (Rochester, N.Y.) put her stamp on the Seawolves’ win in her return to the lineup after missing the previous eight games with an injury. Bayne-Walker played 21 minutes, recording seven assists to one turnover. Last season’s conference leader in assists helped Stony Brook record a season-low six turnovers, winning the points off turnover battle 15-2. She also pitched in with six points and three rebounds.
The 60-Point Threshold
The 60-point mark seems to be a pretty good indicator whether or not the Seawolves will win the game. When Stony Brook holds its opponents to 60 points or less they are 12-2. When its opponent exceeds 60 points, they are just 3-6. The good news for Stony Brook is it’s defense has held its opponents to 60 points or fewer in nine of its last 10 games.
