Stony Brook women’s lacrosse senior Maegan Meritz (Farmingdale, N.Y.) was named a preseason All-American by Lacrosse Magazine, as announced Tuesday.
Meritz led the Seawolves with 38 ground balls in 2015 as Stony Brook had the nation’s top-ranked scoring defense for the third year in a row. Meritz also caused 16 turnovers in 2015.
The Seawolves went 18-2 in 2015 and were ranked as high as No. 6/4 in the national polls as they advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament.
Stony Brook begins the 2016 season Sunday, Feb. 28 with a game at Bryant.
