Live Stats

Stony Brook, N.Y. - After an 0-1-1 homestand to open its 2016 season, the Stony Brook women's soccer team will head to Chestnut Hill for a meeting with the Boston College Eagles (1-0-1) on Thursday, Aug. 25, at 7 pm.

Scouting Boston College

The Eagles also have two games under their belt, a 4-1 win over Providence and a 1-1 draw vs. Arizona State. Boston College earned an NCAA Tournament berth in 2015, finishing with a record of 11-7-2. University of Maryland transfer Kayla Jennings leads the team with two goals, scoring both in her Boston College debut vs. the Friars. Gabby Carreiro has assisted on three of the Eagles' five goals, while Lauren Berman scored the lone goal in the tie vs. Arizona State.

Eye-Popping Shot Totals

Stony Brook had the better of the play in both of its games over the weekend, amassing a 44-17 advantage in shots and a 17-8 edge in shots on goal. Perhaps even more telling is the discrepancy in corner kicks, where Stony Brook held an 18-5 advantage.

Edwards Breaks Through

It took the Seawolves 37 shots and 183 minutes to get their first goal, but they broke the streak with a goal from senior Raven Edwards(West Orange, N.J.). Edwards moved into solo eighth place in school history in career goals with her 19th tally. Junior Christen Cahill(Pembroke, Mass.) tallied her first career assist on the goal.

Robinson Emerging in Goal

Junior Shannon Robinson (Stony Point, N.Y.) earned the starting goalkeeper role in fall camp and has done well with her opportunities. Robinson allowed two goals in 2:18:25  of action over the weekend, the first two starts of her career. She stopped six of eight shots, posting a goals against average of 0.82.

Extra Time Extra Time

Stony Brook has played 218:25 of a possible 220 minutes to start the season with both of its contests going to overtime. The draw vs. Sacred Heart went the distance, while Bryant scored its game-winning goal with just 1:35 to play. The Seawolves played just three overtime games all of last season.
