Box Score Fairfield, Conn. - Sophomore Julie Johnstonbaugh (Neshanic Station, N.J.) had a goal and an assist to help the Stony Brook women's soccer team (1-3-1) snap a 19-game road winless drought and hand head coachBrendan Faherty his first win at the school, a 2-0 win at Fairfield (1-4).

"I am extremely happy for our players," said head coach Brendan Faherty. "They have all worked very hard since we started in January. It's great that they are finally able to enjoy a win, especially an away win. It's much deserved."
"We have spoken about defining moments a lot this week and I think the first goal came at a time in the match where we were really carrying the play," Faherty added. "Overall, it was a great performance on both sides of the ball. We can all enjoy this result for 24 hours and then tomorrow we will turn our attention to Brown."
Highlights
- Senior Priscilla Wiggins (Fresno, Calif.) nearly put the the Seawolves in front in the 20th minute with a first strike from 25 yards out, but the shot just missed the top corner.
- Johnstonbaugh gave the Seawolves their first lead of the season in the 22nd minute. Senior Lindsay Hutchinson (Millesville, Pa.) started the attack when she headed an errant Fairfield goal kick behind the defense. Johnstobaugh beat the keeper to the ball, touched it around her and finished into an empty net for her first goal of the season and the second of her career.
- Sophomore Cara Gallagher (Massapequa, N.Y.), making her first start of the season, made a superb save late in the first half, skying high to tip a shot over the crossbar and send Stony Brook into the intermission with a 1-0 lead.
- Senior Hannah Groth (Cedarburg, Wis.) let fly a shot from 20 yards out that was destined for the back of the goal, but the Fairfield goalie got just enough of the shot to tip it over for a corner.
- Johnstonbaugh was on the assisting end of Stony Brook's second goal, curling a beatiful pass for Edwards behind the defense. Edwards took a good first touch to goal and slotted a left-footed effort for her second goal of the season and the 20th of her career.

- Gallagher finished with a career-high 10 saves to earn her second career shutout.
- Fairfield was credited with 18 shots compared to 14 for Stony Brook.
