Herrmann named Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American


TUCSON, Ariz. – Stony Brook baseball's RHP Brian Herrmann (Northport, N.Y.) was named to the 2017 Collegiate Baseball's Freshman All-American team, selected by Collegiate Baseball newspaper, it was announced on Wednesday.
 
Herrmann, Stony Brook's 13th Freshman All-American and first since teammate Bret Clarke earned the honor last season, finished his first collegiate season with a 4-3 record and a 3.46 ERA in 15 appearances that included 14 starts.
 
Herrmann, the a first team All-America East Conference and a member of the America East All-Rookie team, tossed 80.2 innings of work, allowed 68 hits and struck out 54 opponents.
 
The Seawolves posted a 26-26 overall record in 2017 and went 12-10 in America East play.
