Latest in Stony Brook Women's Soccer
  • Stony Brook enters the second week of the season at 1-1-0, most recently topping Iona, 3-0, in its 2017 home opener on Aug. 20. Freshman Rachel Florenz (Bay Shore, N.Y.) scored twice for the Seawolves – the first two goals of her collegiate career. Julie Johnstonbaugh (Neshanic, Station, N.J.) chipped in with a goal of her own, finding the back of the net on a penalty kick.
  • The Seawolves tallied an impressive 33 shots against Iona, which is the highest single-game amount for any America East team so far this season. The last time Stony Brook tallied 30 or more shots in a game was on Sept. 14, 2012 vs. Manhattan.
  • Head Coach Brendan Faherty guided the Seawolves to a 9-8-3 record during his first year with the program in 2016. The team earned its first America East playoff appearance since the 2013 season after notching a Division-I era record six straight conference wins in league play.
  • Faherty earned America East Coach of the Year honors, and saw six players earn all-conference accolades, including two on the first team. Stony Brook returns two conference award winners from the 2016 season. America East All-Second Team selection Kaitlin Loughren (Huntington, N.Y.) is back for her junior season, while America East All-Rookie award winner Lea Kalmbach (Tettnang, Germany) returns for her sophomore season with the Seawolves.
