STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stony Brook women's soccer is set for two more non-conference games this week, hosting Boston College on Thursday, Aug. 31 (7 p.m.) before traveling to Bryant on Sunday, Sept. 3 (1 p.m.).

Latest in Stony Brook Women's Soccer
  • Stony Brook enters the third week of the season at 2-2-0, most recently falling to Dartmouth, 2-1, on Aug. 27.
  • Freshman Rachel Florenz (Bay Shore, N.Y.) has been named America East women's soccer Rookie of the Week for the second time in 2017, as announced by the league office on Monday, Aug. 28. Florenz scored the game-winning goal in Friday's win over UMass – her third goal of the season in just four games.
  • The Seawolves tallied an impressive 33 shots in their home opener against Iona on Aug. 20, which is the highest single-game amount for any America East team so far this season. The last time Stony Brook tallied 30 shots in a game was on Sept. 14, 2012 vs. Manhattan.
  • Head Coach Brendan Faherty guided the Seawolves to a 9-8-3 record during his first year with the program in 2016. The team earned its first America East playoff appearance since the 2013 season after notching a Division-I era record six straight conference wins in league play.
  • Faherty earned America East Coach of the Year honors, and saw six players earn all-conference accolades, including two on the first team. Stony Brook returns two conference award winners from the 2016 season. America East All-Second Team selection Kaitlin Loughren (Huntington, N.Y.) is back for her junior season, while America East All-Rookie award winner Lea Kalmbach (Tettnang, Germany) returns for her sophomore season with the Seawolves. 
Scouting Boston College
  • Boston College is 2-2 so far in 2017, most recently topping Colgate, 5-1, on Sunday, Aug. 27.
  • Olivia Vaughn leads the Eagles with three goals and an assist this season. She scored twice in the program's season opener vs. James Madison. Lauren Berman has chipped in with two scores and one helper.
  • Boston College was tabbed to finish 10th in the Atlantic Coast Conference's Atlantic Division Preseason Poll.
Scouting Bryant
  • Bryant is 2-0-1 so far in 2017, topping Stetson, 2-1, its last time out on Friday, Aug. 25.
  • Alison Guilmette leads the team with three points (one goal, on assist) so far in 2017. She tallied all three points in an Aug. 18 matchup against Rhode Island.

The Seawolves have one game scheduled for the fourth week of the 2017 season, which will take place on Friday, Sept. 8 at Columbia (6 p.m.).
