Johnson Earns Conference Recognition for Second Week in a Row

BOSTON – Stony Brook women's basketball senior Shania Johnson (Frederick, Md.) is once again the America East Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

Johnson tore it up this past week, leading the Seawolves to wins over Georgia Southern (72-43) and Penn State (81-70). The win over the Lady Lions was the program's first-ever Power Five victory.

Against the Eagles, she recorded her second double-double on the season from 12 points and 13 assists. At Penn State, she poured on 25 points and nine assists, including six made threes.

Two Stony Brook players have earned America East weekly award honors so far this year. Johnson has now been named Player of the Week twice this season and has earned that designation four times in her career: Stony Brook returns to action on Wednesday, Nov. 28, hosting New Paltz at 7 p.m. at the Island Federal Arena.
