BOSTON, Mass. -- The Stony Brook men's lacrosse team was selected to finish second in the America East this season, as the conference's preseason coaches' poll was announced by the league office Thursday afternoon.
The Seawolves, the 2018 co-regular season champions, were selected just behind UAlbany. Stony Brook received 32 points, one less than the 33 given to the Great Danes. Both programs received three first-place votes. The poll was voted on by the leagues seven head coaches.
Vermont followed Stony Brook with 25 points, while UMBC received the other first-place vote and is fourth with 23 points. UMass Lowell, Binghamton and Hartford round out the group.
Stony Brook will begin its eighth season under the direction of head coach
Jim Nagle on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 12 p.m. as it hosts Penn State at LaValle Stadium.
