BOSTON – Three members of the Stony Brook women's basketball team earned America East All-Conference honors, the conference announced on Tuesday morning. Both
Shania JohnsonÂ
(Frederick, Md.)Â and
Jerell MatthewsÂ
(Chicago, Ill.)Â were named to the All-Conference First Team while
Anastasia WarrenÂ
(Atlanta, Ga.)Â earned a spot on the All-Rookie Team.
Â
Johnson, now a two-time First Team honoree, is having a stellar senior campaign with the Seawolves, ranking nationally in assists (4th), assists per game (4th), 3-point field goals made (15th) and 3-point field goals per game (15th). Back in November, she broke the America East record in single-game assists after recording 15 against New Paltz. Additionally, she claimed three other school records during her final season with Stony Brook and was named to the prestigious Dawn Staley Award Midseason Watch List which recognizes the nation's best guard in women's NCAA Division I college basketball.
Â
This is Matthews' second time earning conference recognition after garnering Third Team accolades last season as a junior. The senior is averaging 16.0 points per game while touting a 45.7 field goal percentage and a 38.2 3-point field goal percentage – each of which ranks third in the conference. Matthews is also second in the America East in threes per game (2.9), only behind Johnson's average of 3.3 triples per contest. With 133 made threes during her collegiate career, Matthews ranks fifth all-time in school history.
Â
Warren made seven starts during her rookie year with the Seawolves, averaging 3.8 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. The freshman had a big outing in just her second-ever collegiate game, scoring a career-high 16 points in the home opener against Hofstra. She also added in 13 points at Penn State to help the Stony Brook squad earn its first victory over a Power Five squad in program history. Additionally, Warren was the America East Rookie of the Week on four different occasions.
Â
The Seawolves have now had 11 all-conference selections in the five years under head coachÂ
Caroline McCombs.

The No. 3-seeded Stony Brook women's basketball is back in action on Wednesday, Mar. 6 at the Island Federal Arena, squaring off with No. 6 Vermont at 7 p.m. in the quarterfinal round of the conference tournament.
